Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup wild rice, rinsed thoroughly
  • 2 carrots, shredded
  • 2 celery stalks, thinly sliced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 5 1/2 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons Herb-Ox® Chicken Instant Powder
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 (10-ounce) cans Valley Fresh® White Chicken 3 oz., drained and shredded
  • Slivered almonds

Directions

  1. In large slow cooker, combine all ingredients except milk, flour and chicken; cover. Cook on LOW setting 4 hours or until wild rice is tender.
  2. Just before serving, in small bowl, combine milk and flour; mix well. Slowly stir into soup. Add chicken; cook and stir 5 minutes or until slightly thickened and heated thoroughly.
  3. Ladle soup into bowls. Sprinkle with almonds, if desired.
