This recipe is recommended for 60 servings
1/4 pound Italian sausage
1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
1/4 cup sliced green onions
8 water chestnuts
2 tablespoons CHI-CHI'S® Diced Green Chilies, drained
1 CHI-CHI'S® Green Jalapenos Whole, cut in half and seeded
1 tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro
1 (1-pound) package wonton wrappers
1 large egg, beaten
60 chive or green onion strips
CHI-CHI'S® salsa or picante sauce
Vegetable oil
Directions
Heat 2 inches oil to 350ºF.
In food processor bowl, combine sausage, cheese, onions, water chestnuts, chilies, jalapeño and cilantro. Process until somewhat smooth paste forms.
Place 1 teaspoon sausage filling in center of each wonton wrapper. Brush wonton wrapper from edge almost to filling with beaten egg. Gather points of wrapper; twist and pinch to form bundle.
Deep-fry bundles in hot oil until golden brown; drain on paper towels. Tie each bundle with chive strip. Serve with salsa or picante sauce.
