Make your next summer picnic memorable, festive and delicious with a little help from Hormel Foods.

When picnicking, choose dishes that travel well, can be made in advance and are served at room temperature. Avoid lettuce salads, they tend to wilt in the heat. Instead, try something like our Black Bean and Corn Salad made with Chi-Chi's® Green Jalapeno Wheels.

In a large bowl, combine drained black beans, whole kernel corn, cubed red bell pepper, cubed green bell pepper, sliced onion, and Chi-Chi's® Green Jalapeno Wheels. Mix thoroughly.

For the dressing, start with ¼ cup of vegetable oil, add red wine vinegar, salt, ground pepper and ground cumin. Stir until blended. Pour the dressing over the vegetables and mix well.

For transport and serving – jelly jars make for a picnic-perfect, no-mess container.   And no picnic is complete without the sandwich. Be sure to choose a hearty bread, such as a baguette. Softer breads can get soggy over time. Our Smoked Ham Cajun Po-Boy begins with 4 sliced French demi baguettes. Spread inside of baguettes with mayonnaise and mustard and sprinkle with Cajun seasoning.
