Great on the grill?  You bet.   Easier than you think?  Absolutely. And it all begins with a delicious Jennie-O Turkey Store Turkey.  

First, thaw the turkey by following package instructions.  Remove the turkey neck and the giblets from the appropriate cavities.  Rinse the turkey thoroughly inside and out with cold water.  Prepare the grill for indirect cooking.  If possible, place a disposable drip pan directly under the center cooking area of the grill.  Adjust the burners on each side of the cooking area to medium-low.  Leave the center burners in the off position.  For charcoal grill instructions, please reference our website.  Place the turkey directly on the grill – breast side up.   Grill the turkey until the internal temperature reaches 170-degrees in the breast.  Usually about 15 minutes per pound.  For example, an 8 to 12 pound turkey will take 2 to 3 hours.  A 12 to 14 pound turkey will be ready in 3 to 4 hours.

Here are a few additional grilling tips.  Purchase a whole turkey that will fit comfortably under a covered grill. There should be 1-inch or more of space between the top of the breast and the grill.  Turkeys weighing 16-pounds or less are best for grilling.  And finally, do not stuff a grilled turkey.
