Slow cookers are great for stews – but with a little imagination, you can create unique meals with the same ease and convenience.  Take, for instance, our Easy Taco Bake made with delicious Hormel Chili.  In a large bowl simply combine Hormel Chili with beans, corn, diced tomatoes and cubed cheese.  Layer one third of the chili mixture into the slow cooker and top with crushed tortilla chips.  Repeat layers and top with the remaining chili mixture.  Place the lid on the slow cooker and cook on high for 2 hours or until the cheese is melted and edges are bubbling.  Makes a great entrée or appetizer!

Want a hearty meal waiting for you and the family when you arrive home from work?  Then our Savory Pork Chops with Cherry Apple Stuffing, made with Hormel Always Tender Thin Center Cut Chops, is just the ticket.  In a large bowl, stir together one six-ounce package of stuffing mix, sliced celery, one chopped Braeburn or Granny Smith apple, dried cherries, chopped onion, cinnamon, butter and chicken broth.. Spoon half the stuffing mix into the slow cooker.  Top with pork chops.  Spoon remaining stuffing mixture over the pork chops.  Cover, and cook on low heat for 6 to 7 hours or until the pork chops are tender.  Comfort food at its finest.

Take the chill out of cool Autumn days with our delicious Chicken and Wild Rice Soup, made with Hormel Chunk Chicken Breast and Herb-Ox Chicken Instant Powder Bouillon.  In the slow cooker, stir together wild rice, shredded carrots, chopped onions, sliced celery, Herb-Ox Bouillon and water.  Cover and cook on low heat for 4 hours or until the wild rice is tender.  In a small bowl, whisky together 1 cup of whipping cream and 2 tablespoons flour.  Slowly stir into the soup mixture.  Add the Hormel chunk chicken.  Cook, stirring constantly, for 5 minutes or until the mixture is slightly thickened and the chicken is heated through.  Garnish with almonds and serve.  Perfect for lunch or a light supper.
